Escape
to the beautiful island of St. Lucia where visitors experience
real beauty and the memories are everlasting. St. Lucia is
known for its majestic Pitons, lovely beaches, warm and friendly
people. All this and more has made it one of the best Islands
in the Caribbean to visit.
Its
climate is a warm 80 - 85degree Fahrenheit all year round,
which calls for casual wear of clothing. The major language
is English and getting around is easy, as people are willing
to point out places of interest. Taxis are available or there
are several reputable car hire companies on the island. Drivers
need to purchase a local driver's license. There is 500 miles
of road with all the towns being connected to a major road.
Some roads are unpaved and can be a bit difficult to travel
on, but you soon get the hang of it. Driving is done on the
left side of the road.
St. Lucia's
currency is eastern Caribbean dollars but the exchange rate
is $1.00 US to $2.70 EC. U S dollars is accepted on the island.
However, any currency can be change at all the local banks
e.g. Nova Scotia, Barclays, Royal Bank of Canada. All ATM
machines distribute EC dollars only. Most major credit cards
are accepted at shops and restaurants.
If you
coming from the United States, BWIA flies on a weekly basis
from Miami and New York. American Eagle flies to and from
Puerto Rico daily and lands at George Charles Airport, which
is the smaller airport of the two. If you are travelling from
Canada, London there are direct flight into Hewanorra International
Airport with British Airways, Air Canada, BWIA. When leaving
there is a departure tax of $ 54 EC/US $20 per person 12 years
and over.
Electricity
is available at 220 volts, 50 cycles AC. If you are travelling
from outside Europe, you will need an adapter for you appliance.
There
are lots of fun sport activities to enjoy during the day e.g.,
Jungle Tours, Horseback riding, Sailing, Golfing, Tennis,
catamaran cruises... and lots more. After the sun sets, the
nightlife is very vibrant and very often there is live steel
band music, Friday Night Street Party in the north and the
nightclubs always have alot to offer. |
